Ceramicist Raina Lee has created a showroom for pottery with her companion, architect Mark Watanabe, inside a stilted shed in the backyard of their household in Los Angeles.
The 68-square-foot (six.three-square-metre) structure hides behind the couple’s residence in Los Angeles’ Mount Washington neighbourhood. The cabin was currently constructed on the house when Lee bought it in 2013, but she had no intention of utilizing the additional space to showcase her operate.
“I bought the house but did not have an intended use for the treehouse, in addition to the occasional tea and morning yoga,” the artist told Dezeen. “Ultimately we realised it would make sense to use the treehouse as a committed showroom.”
The shed is raised on stilts to match the height of surrounding trees. It is accessed from wooden methods that lead to a bridge lined with bungee cords.
